Get Involved - Become a PUSH Changemaker

Ready to save some lives? Read on to learn more about becoming a PUSH Changemaker Volunteer!

Did you know? PUSH was founded by bereaved parents across the U.S. who came together in 2021 to say: enough is enough.

Our mission from the very beginning has been clear: do whatever it takes to end preventable stillbirth in the United States, using big, bold action on a national scale to drive change quickly - because as parents who have lived the pain of stillbirth, we know viscerally that we don't have any time to waste with 65 children's lives on the line every single day.

There are a lot of organizations in the U.S. tackling different aspects of the stillbirth crisis, from bereavement support to different prevention tools. PUSH set out to become a central hub for activism where we could work collaboratively with others to align our work and push forward together to maximize our collective impact.

And since we are diverse families from a wide range of backgrounds - many of whom have felt our voices were too often silenced - we set out do things differently. We are dedicated centering and amplifying the voices of marginalized families who are most at risk of stillbirth and other adverse pregnancy outcomes; we do not shy away from naming racism, misogyny, and paternalism where we see it; and we prioritize solutions that are equity-focused and explicitly anti-racist. We are staunch allies, advocates, and activists, and we are proud to stand arm-in-arm to ensure that we leave this world a better place in the names of our children who have died.

Sound like your kind of crew? Awesome. Read on to get started!

Step 1: Watch our Welcome Video

Meet our Director team and learn more about our strategy, our values, and what our expectations are for our volunteers:

Step 2: Self-Reflection

As outlined in the video above, there are two ways to serve as a PUSH volunteer: Active Changemaker or Changemaker Supporter.

As an Active Changemaker, you'll be expected to:

  • Attend quarterly full Changemaker team meetings, contributing to the collective effort and shared goals of our community

  • Engage in at least one project team (including monthly meetings), demonstrating your commitment to the mission and the collaborative spirit of our work

  • Be responsive to communication via email and WhatsApp

Works for you? Skip down to Step 3 below to register as an Active Changemaker!

Can't commit right now? Don't worry! Be a Changemaker Supporter!

As a Changemaker Supporter, you'll still:

  • Receive our email newsletter

  • Be notified about upcoming events (in person and virtual) that you may want to attend

  • Can meaningfully contribute by liking/sharing on social media when you have time to help us expand our reach and raise awareness

  • Be invited to join our monthly Changemaker Cozy Chats to get to know our Directors and other Changemaker families!

If this is a better option for you right now than being an Active Changemaker, you can skip the form below and instead sign up on our mailing list at: pushpregnancy.org/contact - Be sure to select the 2nd option ("Maybe someday! Keep me posted on opportunities to get involved") on the last question about volunteering

Step 3: Complete Registration & Policies

If you're ready to commit as an Active Changemaker, please fill out the Registration Form and Volunteer Policies Agreement here: pushpregnancy.org/volunteerform

Once submitted, you should immediately receive an automatic acknowledgment email, and our Changemaker Care team will simultaneously be notified that you're ready to pitch in!

You can expect to hear personally from one of our volunteers within the next week or so. If you don't, or you need to speak with us urgently, don't hesitate to reach out via email at info@pushpregnancy.org.

Thank you for your dedication to ending preventable stillbirth! #UnitedWePush
